Educators of all experience levels and backgrounds will find this course an ideal entry point for Graphic Design. Learn the core skills that every Graphic Designer requires.

 

This course teaches techniques and tricks that graphic designers use to create the products we use every day. Skills and knowledge learned in this course can help you to create your own websites, book covers, logos, and more. Participants in this course will learn about accepted principles of graphic design and their influence on media ranging from print design to app design. Throughout the course, you will explore the ways that color scheme and layout affect the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) in many of the devices and programs we use every day. At the end of the course, you will be able to analyze, remix, and create original work for target audiences that reflect these essential concepts of design.

Method of Instruction

This course is intended for instructor delivery, either in-person or remotely. All instructional resources (lesson slide, handouts, quizzes, assessments, etc) can be downloaded for individual teacher customization and use. Required Materials & Equipment

  • Digital or Paper Notebook.
  • Portfolios (create these before you start the first lesson).
  • Computers or tablets with an internet connection.
  • A projector or smartboard.
  • This course uses several external websites for creating digital art. Some of these require sign-up and some require Flash. Check the sites before assigning them to students.
    Normal classroom materials such as pens, pencils, markers, etc.
